Robinson Racing to Compete in the 2015 Polaris RZR General Tire Mint 400, the Great American Off-Road Race in Las Vegas Team Draws First Spot in Starting Positions

Milford, Michigan – March 13, 2015 – On Saturday, March 14, 2015, Robinson Racing competes in the 2015 Polaris RZR General Tire Mint 400 with drivers Shane Lewis and Gar Robinson. Held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Mint 400 is the largest off-road race in North America, with a field of 330 teams entered in this weekend’s competition. Debuting in 1967, the Mint 400 has the distinction of being the oldest and most prestigious off-road race in America, and it is now part of The Best in Desert Championship race series. The event attracts more than 40,000 off-road fans and racers to “Sin City”.

In tomorrow’s Mint 400, Shane Lewis and Gar Robinson will race custom vehicle #5574, sponsored by 74 Ranch Resort, in the Class 5500 Baja Challenge. The team drew the first spot in the starting positions yesterday. This year, the 400-mile course is laid out as 2 laps, with 200 miles per lap. Gar Robinson will lead the charge in the first lap, and then pit for fuel and the driver swap. Shane Lewis will race the second lap.

A resident of Jupiter in Northern Palm Beach County, Florida, Shane Lewis is a renowned endurance racer and sought-after driving coach. In 2013, Lewis claimed victories in the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Dunlop 24H Dubai. Lewis was awarded the Dick Moroso Memorial Award at the Palm Beach Country Sports Commission’s 38th Annual Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame awards ceremony in 2014.

Lewis’ extensive resume includes race victories in championships throughout the world including the American Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series, the Rolex Sports Car Series, SCCA World Challenge, Continental Challenge, VLN and the World 24hr Series.

Joining Shane Lewis in the Mint 400 is Robinson Racing teammate and co-driver Gar Robinson. Gar Robinson placed second in the TA2 Class of the season opener of the Trans Am Championship, the Foametix Trans Am 100, held earlier this month at the legendary Sebring International Raceway in Florida.

Gar Robinson is the son of former Trans Am driver George Robinson, who ran 46 races from 1988 to 1994 with one victory, eight top-five appearances and 24 top-ten showings. Gar Robinson competed in the final three races of the 2014 Trans Am Championship, finishing an impressive fourth place in each race in the TA2 Class.

The Mint 400 begins at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2015, followed by the Red Bull Mint 400 After Party at Drai’s Nightclub, located in the Cromwell Boutique Hotel and Casino. On Sunday, the Awards Brunch is held at The Grand, located in the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino.
