The Team Owner and Gar Robinson’s father, George Robinson is a former Trans Am driver, running in 46 races from 1988 to 1994 with one victory, eight top-five appearances and 24 top-ten showings. In addition to the Trans Am Series, George raced in IMSA, Grand Am, and ALMS, with 3 class wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring plus a Championship in the Ferrari Challenge. George currently resides in Texas, spending the majority of his time at the 74 Ranch Resort in Campbellton.
As the Team Manager for both the #74 and #72 Chevy Camaros for Robinson Racing, Jimmy’s primary duties involve car set-up and development along with staff logistics and management. He has worked with George Robinson since 1990. His long motorsports career includes winning Trans Am Championships and working with IMSA GTP, Indy cars and dirt track cars. Off the track, you can find Jimmy hunting, fishing and spectating at dirt car races.
Crew Chief, #72 Chevrolet Camaro
As the Crew Chief for the #72 Camaro driven by Shane Lewis, Ross serves as the general mechanic for the race car and also does bodywork for Gar Robinson’s #74 Camaro. Ross resides in Vantown, Michigan with his family. He enjoys farming, beekeeping, and producing maple syrup.
Car Chief, #74 Chevrolet Camaro
Back in 1990, Dave was the first employee that George Robinson hired and has been on the team ever since. As the Car Chief for the #74 Camaro driven by Gar Robinson, Dave ensures all runs well with the vehicle, and he also drives the team hauler, a race shop on wheels, to and from the races. Dave is a passionate rock, blues and jazz drummer.
Data Acquisition Specialist
Phil is in charge of taking care of everything electronic on the race cars and collecting the data from those Camaros for analysis. He currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina and is originally from Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Outside of racing, his hobbies are mountain biking and snowboarding.
As a mechanic on the Robinson Racing team, Norm cites “anything they want” as his duties, working on both the #74 and #72 Chevrolet Camaros in the hunt for a Trans Am Championship. Norm’s hometown is Ann Arbor, Michigan, south of the Robinson Racing headquarters in Milford. His hobbies include snowmobiling and boating.
Known by his nickname “Unk”, Richard has worked diligently for the Robinson family for decades. He manages the trackside and year-round logistics for the team, at all of the Trans Am races, the annual Mint 400 race, and additional motorsports and family events.
Welder & Fabricator
In addition to welding and fabricating for the Robinson Racing team, Steven assists with tires, fuel, trackside service, and driving support vehicles from Michigan to the event locations. Steven, an artist himself, co-owns an artist residency space in Detroit, Michigan. His hometown is Tawas City, Michigan, north of Detroit on Lake Huron.
ROBINSON RACING: THE PITBOXES.COM TA2 CREW OF THE YEAR
On November 12, 2016 at the Trans Am Gala held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, the Robinson Racing team was presented with the Pitboxes.com TA2 Crew of the Year award, as Shane Lewis’ No. 72 Chevrolet Camaro had completed the most laps of any car throughout the season. Earlier that day, the team had celebrated Lewis’ second race win of the year, in Victory Lane at Daytona International Speedway.
